25th Anniversary Celebration

On July 2, 1989 Arbutus Grove Church held its first service at the Island Hall Hotel in Parksville, BC. Over the years, we worshiped in a number of locations – The Heritage Church (formerly the Knox United building that now stands at the Heritage Park), Parksville Middle School, in members’ living rooms or their lovely yards if the weather was pleasant, and in the Chapel at Yates Funeral Home.  We had a portable church in a trailer that was towed from location to location, and even held occasional services at Rathtrevor Beach for our annual picnic. Finally in 2004 we were able to rent the former Salvation Army/Baptist church building from the Legion, and now we worship there on a weekly basis. Our congregation may be small but we are loving and caring of all who enter our doors - for worship, for fellowship, & for meals. During the Fall and Spring we hold Bible Studies and afternoon craft times.  We enjoy visits with the Seniors from Trillium Lodge, and we have monthly speakers on a variety of topics, followed with a lunch of soup and sandwiches.
